Getting Started

Make sure you have both pip and at least version 3.5 of Python before starting. Sanic uses the new async/await syntax, so earlier versions of python won’t work.

1. Install Sanic

python3 -m pip install sanic

2. Create a file called

from sanic import Sanic
from sanic.response import json

app = Sanic()

async def test(request):
    return json({"hello": "world"})

if __name__ == "__main__":"", port=8000)

3. Run the server

4. Check your browser

Open the address in your web browser. You should see the message Hello world!.

You now have a working Sanic server!
